Train the Trainer

Overview

Providing trainers with key skills in planning, delivering, assessing and evaluating learning.

QED Associates offers organisations a series of training courses designed to develop the skills your staff need to be effective trainers. These courses which are based on NZQA unit standards can be taken on their own, or as a full training pathway leading to award of the National Certificate in Adult Education & Training - Level 4.

We can either run these courses at your workplace or staff can access the training through our public courses. The courses feature a lot of interactive learning supplemented by individual assignment work and workplace teaching practice.

Details

Train the Trainer Part 1: Planning and preparing for training

This covers Unit Standards 7093: Design learning sessions for adults, and 7091:Establish a culturally safe and inclusive learning environment for adults in NZ’s cultural setting.  Total 10 credits

The course will enable you to:

  • Design well structured training sessions
  • Develop ways to successfully train people from other cultures

Train the Trainer Part 2: Delivering and evaluating training

This covers Unit Standards: 19444: Deliver group training sessions for adult learners, 7115: Create and maintain a positive learning environment for adult learners and 20469: Evaluate adult training sessions. Total 19 Credits

The course will enable you to:

  • Cater for different learning styles
  • Deliver training sessions that fully involve trainees
  • Use evaluation methods to gather trainee feedback

Train the Trainer Part 3: Assessing Performance

This covers Unit Standards: 4098: Use standards to assess candidate performance 11281: Prepare candidates for assessment against standards and 18203: Verify evidence for assessment.  Total 12 Credits.

Note: Assessment for Unit 11552: Design and evaluate assessment materials is optional but is not required to gain the National Certificate.

The course will enable you to:

  • Design good assessment tasks (optional)
  • Prepare for and carry out fair, valid assessments
  • Make sound assessment decisions based on the evidence collected
  • Give feedback on trainee performance

Course Fees

For public courses: $590 per participant for each of the two-day parts, $550 special early-bird rate if you pay more than two weeks prior to start date.

For in-house courses: we will negotiate an all-up fee with you, depending on the delivery format you choose and trainee numbers. We offer discounted rates for more than 8 trainees.
