National Certificate

Overview

The National Certificate in Adult Education & Training (Level 4) is made up of 40 credits and is designed for people who are seeking a qualification in the field of adult education and training.

It is suitable for trainers and teachers who are delivering and assessing training to adult learners.

There are no pre-requisites to entry. This qualification may stand alone or lead on to the National Certificate in Adult Education & Training (Level 5) which consists of a further 20 credits, making 60 credits in all.

Detailed qualification requirements

Compulsory

The following unit standard is required:

7091: Facilitate adult learning In New Zealand’s cultural environment (Level 4, Credits 4)

Elective 1

A minimum of 16 credits at Level 4 or above is required from standards in any of the following domains:

  • Delivery of adult education and training
  • Assessment of learning
  • Open and distance learning

Elective 2

A minimum of 20 credits at Level 4 or above is required, 10 of which can be drawn from any domain in the Adult Education & Training subfield. Any balance of credits can be drawn from anywhere on the National Qualifications Framework.

The National Certificate in Adult Education & Training (Level 4) will be awarded to people who have met the requirements of the compulsory and elective sets.
